Potion Pictures is a studio that aspires to draw on multi-disciplinary experience of its team to develop high end moving image design. Potion Pictures combines imagination and expertise in animation, motion graphics, illustration, visual effects, 3D and many other forms of design. From creating LED graphics in a live studio environment, to art directing the design of an iPhone app, to projecting onto architectural landmarks, to illustrating and animating original characters, Potion Pictures is a team of talented individuals that can take on any challenge.
DAVID NEWTON - Managing Director
David began his career as a print designer in 2000 before moving into specialising as a projection designer and gaining freelance experience on some of the world’s biggest shows in theatre and television; most notably, Lord of the Rings (London), Dirty Dancing (Hamburg), X Factor and Dancing on Ice. David founded Potion Pictures in 2009, and since then has worked on numerous building projections, site specific installations and studio graphics. Notable work includes projecting onto Trinity College, Dublin, and Strictly Come Dancing. In 2013 and again in 2015, he was awarded a Knight of Illumination 'sword' for his work on the Voice UK and Strictly Come Dancing.
NICHOLAS REYNIERS - Head of Design
Nick attended Camberwell College of Arts where he completed a degree in Illustration. Since starting at Potion, Nick has worked on major television shows such as Red or Black, The X Factor, Dancing on Ice and he designed the logo and title sequence for The Royal Variety Performance. Recent work includes Bang on the Money, You're Back in the Room and Tonight at the London Palladium.
MANDY SMITH - Creative Producer
Mandy has a background in Graphic Design and is Producer of the London International Animation Festival (LIAF). Recent project management work at Potion Pictures includes Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, BBC Music Awards and Eurovision You Decide.
DAISY NICOMANIS - Production and Admin Manager
Daisy has a background in broadcast Production Management and has over 10 years experience in television production. She has worked across many genres including factual entertainment, children’s factual entertainment and contestant game shows. Daisy has worked on a huge variety of programmes ranging from The Cube to The Voice and BAFTA’s annual Awards.
ALBERTA TORRES - Graphic Designer
Alberta trained at the IUAV University of Venice, Université de Paris 8 and London College of Communication. A multi-talented artist she has worked in animation, illustration and photography, exhibiting in her native country Italy as well as in London. Her work at Potion Pictures has included Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games, Michael McIntyre's Big Show, The Great History Quiz and Stricly Come Dancing, for which she won a Knight of Illumination award.
RUBEN GARCIA - Graphic Designer
Ruben trained at the Complutense University of Madrid where he completed a degree in media studies and production. He began his graphic design career in 1999 in Madrid, and is an extremely talented VFX and 3D designer. Recent work includes The Voice of Ireland and the Luminosity building projection onto Iveagh House.
JESSY WANG - Graphic Designer
Jessy studied at the Glasgow School of Art, where her projection mapped film ‘FRANK’ won the 2013 Design in Action prize for Commercial Potential. Since joining Potion Pictures, Jessy has worked on the BBC Proms and the BBC Music Awards, for which she won a Computer Arts Unsung Heroes Award and Strictly Come Dancing for which she won a Knight of Illumination award.
JOE PHILLIPS - Junior Graphic Designer
Joe studied Motion Graphics at Ravensbourne University and began his journey with us as an intern. Now a permanent member of Potion Pictures, his recent work includes You're Back in the Room and Michael McIntyre's Big Show.
VITOR CARVALHO - Junior Graphic Designer
Vitor studied at Ravensbourne University and is a former Potion Pictures Intern. Recent projects that he has worked on include Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and the Luminosity building projection onto Iveagh House.
